The North of Mallorca.
Beaches, parties, history…
Still with a good taste in our mouths that travelling in camper van through the Levant peninsula leaves us with, we continue along the northern coast of Mallorca towards the west. Our first stop on this stage of our camper van trip through Mallorca, is a classic of getaways in a camper van or motorhome on the island of Mallorca: Son Serra de Marina, a small summer town with a beautiful long beach of fine sand. In this area there is not even a hotel, and it is typical that on windy days a little swell arises and is taken advantage of by the island’s surfers to catch waves. There are a couple of beach bars to have a beer at the end of the day with total tranquility. We love!
Playas de Muro. between Puerto de Alcudia and Can Picafort is the longest beach in Mallorca. It has different sectors that allow you to spend a quiet day on the beach and other areas, such as Can Picafort, full of bars , nightclubs and restaurants, which are usually very crowded in summer. In addition to all this, we find numerous trails to explore the marshes, pine forests and juniper forests. Very close to here we also find the S’Albufera Natural Park, which is highly recommended!
We continue advancing, until we reach the peninsula of Alcudia. Alcudia is a historic walled town that is well worth a walk of a couple of hours through its streets, but what if what we liked most was walking through the Talaia d’Alcúdia trails? There are several hiking routes to explore, some trails end in a beautiful hidden cove perfect for a swim. There are some sections with steep slopes, but in general it is easy to access and not very demanding. Always remember to wear good footwear and carry plenty of water.
After the bay of Alcudia, we arrive at the bay of Pollensa. We have time to explore the coast of Pollensa a little and finish in the town of Pollensa for dinner on a terrace at sunset. From Pollensa, at the foot of the Sierra de Tramontana, many hiking routes start from where we find panoramic views of the northern part of this dream mountain range. Here we decided to take a break to face the next stage the Tramontana mountain range. From here on, take special care when driving with our camper van or motorhome. The mountains have narrow roads with a lot of curves and sometimes high volumes of traffic. Not recommended for visiting with a large motorhome, but perfect for our medium-sized camper vans.
Remember to respect the current regulations, take care of the environment, do not disturb the locals and leave the place clean and without a trace of our visit. Let’s take care of the beautiful island of Mallorca.
